This website was started on Scarlett’s behalf, by her Grandpa. That’s me.
I wanted to be able to document some of the portions of her life that I know she’ll really never remember. Some of the wisdom of getting older is remembering all the things you should have or could have done along the way.
Scarlett lived around Grandpa’s home for almost all of her first 7+ years, before moving away to South Carolina in August 2018. She moved back, into my house in November 2021 with her dad, mom, and two cats and a dog.
So if there’s a gap in the time frame of the videos, it’s a reflection of the missing part of someone’s life.
Then, after a few years, in August 2025, she left, rather abruptly, due to a series of conflicts between adults which I will not go into here. I have not spoken or heard from her since.
No pumpkins or decorations for Halloween 2025. A first ever for me at 63. No Thanksgiving, No Christmas tree or decorations. Me, no Christmas tree? Yep. Everything you see here is now just a memory.
After Aunt Gray passed away in April 2025, I was determined to start my Memories Project.
It’s on Memories.News
I made a page for Scarlett, if she ever finds it and cares to listen. It’s password protected and only she and I would know the password. The password is the name of the monkey, in the backyard, who watched you on the lyra… type it in all lowercase letters. https://memories.news/scarlett
Besides this website, I saved many other things. Remembering, Louise Driscoll’s quote,
“Within your heart, keep one still, secret spot where dreams may go.”
