The Last Tadpole turned into frog released

The last tadpole that became a frog was released on October 26th 2017.  I lost count after there were 125+ released. Yes, One hundred twenty five…. and probably a few more.

You can see the remnants of the tail as he was “just” about a fully formed frog.  The little frog stayed there for a few minutes and was warming up (it was cool this morning)… and then I watched him hop away.

Scarlett helps with flowers

Scarlett helps with flowers.  Grandpa trimmed some flowers from the front of the yard and Scarlett collected some and put them in two small vases.  You can see a few other things about the front yard and even Maggie… our crippled beagle.  Maggie  was supposed to be a “toy Beagle”   which means she was supposed to stay small. However, alhough she barks like a beagle, she really looks like a hot dog in a beagle’s costume.  About 7 years ago, she hurt her back some how and has not been able to coordinate her back legs… so she doesn’t walk. But she moves around just fine pulling herself along with her front legs and she’s not in pain… so life is good for her.

By the way, Grandpa says, we have released at least 120 frogs so far from the tadpole batch we caught by Mary’s house. He releases anywhere from 5 to 10 per day as he is changing the water.

Scarlett takes over the Tadpole release video

Scarlett takes over the Tadpole release video.

Grandpa was filming the tadpoles being released and cleaned and trouble started when he gave Scarlett the phone to film the event.

You can see Scarlett’s finger over the camera.  And you can see Scarlett does not listen when Grandpa tells her she is going to run out of space on the iphone. Grandma got lucky as towards the end, Scarlett filmed her in her PJs, and wanted Grandpa to edit that out… but the iphone camera already shut itself off as it did run out of space.

Grandpa makes some severe fashion statements when cutting the grass.  Uncle Vincent’s bright red Keds sneakers almost wound up being thrown out when Vincent moved back from college in Wisconsin. Grandma thinks Grandpa looks crazy, like some lost senior citizen or something.  Either way, so far we released over 50 frogs so far with about the same amount still left to go.

Do it Themselves Random Release Frog Backyard Program

Grandpa said he would wait for me to release the frogs that started out as tadpoles… but they started growing legs and disappearing their tails, so he let those that wanted to go out on their own do so.

Grandma will complain every time she sees a frog in the future I am sure… and she was wondering if this was legal?
Huh?

We watched it rain last night on September 2nd 2017. Then grandpa and I went outside by Mary’s house across the street with flashlights to see if we could see the frogs croaking.  We could not. They were really hiding in the grass.  But I found a tadpole swimming in the water… and grandpa mentioned we could get up in the morning and collect them.

So, we did.

And this is Day 1.
