Grandpa cleared out the back, but the salt water canals and did some cast netting for bait fish. A few were still alive so he saved them for the raccoons in the water, and Abby found it fun to play with them.

Abby gets washed after rolling in stinky mussels
. Grandpa was experimenting with mussels from the back yard canal. Abby seemed to be attracted by the smell… they really really stunk. They were just the shells, but they were buried in the mud. Abby started rolling around on top of them.. and oh boy, did she stink. Abby gets washed after rolling in stinky mussels.
Maggie laid to rest
Maggie was laid to rest at around 12:30am on February 2nd 2019.
It was a sad day. On Friday, around 8:30PM, Auntie Sam and Gammy took Maggie to the hospital to be “put to sleep”. It was time. Grandpa stayed behind to “dig the hole”. It would be incomplete to not include this final chapter in Maggie’s life, Grandpa thought. Everyone loved Maggie. She was the sweetest dog, whose life was altered when she was crippled in still who knows how kind of way. Everyone took care of her for the next 8 years. It was a household effort, and I know all of us made the best of a tough situation. I know almost no other family could have possibly, or would have ever kept her so comfortable and I hope happy for so long. But now the journey is over… all we all hope is that Maggie has her good legs back in heaven… that would make the world a better place. You can check previous videos to see Maggie as part of our lives… And Scarlett always took such care of her.
This is the last picture I took of Maggie as she was sleeping in Grandpa’s office.
